2010 will be the year of decision for new leadership in Ohio’s 16th congressional district.
John Boccieri’s voting record has been a tremendous disappointment to citizens in this district. He ran as a moderate and has voted 94 percent with his Nancy Pelosi Democrats. He voted for the $787 billion dollar stimulus bill without reading the bill and he voted in favor of the Cap and Trade energy bill only because he was able to secure $30 billion dollars of pork, err green jobs spending. He reluctantly voted against the house bill to take over American Health care, although the bill passed. I’m sure his vote on health care was very principled, especially after Nancy Pelosi assured vulnerable Democrats they could vote against the bill if they were in trouble back home.
Boccieri has been a disaster. Now our task is to find out which candidate from the Republican side is the most experienced, most principled and most articulate. The Job of any congressman is to be able to stand and explain issues. Here are the three candidates who have come forward in the 2010 Republican primary. Republican party officials have already made their selection and given their stamp of approval to Jim Renacci. Party officials may be sure of the best candidate, but I think rank and file Republican voters need to be free to make their own selection.
To help you know more about the Republicans in the race, I’ve been searching YouTube for speeches by the three candidates running in the primary. One of these three men will challenge Democrat congressman John Boccieri. We have to figure out who is the best and then totally commit to their candidacy. We can’t afford another two years of a failed Boccieri candidacy. We’ve would like to introduce voters to all three candidates, so they can make their own choice.
Candidates are listed in alphabetical order for fairness. We will learn more when they hold public debates to win our votes.
