Gallup has come out with new polls regarding Labor Unions. The results are not surprising. 48% of Americans disapprove of Labor Unions which is a decrease of 11% from 1 year ago. 66% of those in unions do believe their union is beneficial to them - well of course they do until their job is eliminated due to their unions being to greedy.
This is the first time since Gallup started measuring unions in the 1930’s that their approval rating has fallen below 50%.
These numbers come as no surprise to me especially given the recent troubles of the auto industry and the push for the Employee Free Choice act. Which is a misnomer - there is no free choice as it would take away the secret ballot. By taking the secret ballot away, which is uniquely American, fraud, intimidation and corruption will be free to run rampant.
Now is the time to stand up and demand that the influence of unions be relegated to it’s original intent protecting the worker from unsafe working conditions and unscrupulous employers. Sadly, the unions have decided that all employers are unscrupulous and have driven them out of business as well as their members out of a job.
Some companies have stood their ground and stood up to the unions. Hormel is one such company, that stood their ground and the unions lost. Their members, who never went back to Hormel due to the company filling the positions with non union workers, lost out on not only wages but profit sharing amongst other benefits.
Though the above referenced article is from Wikipedia, it nevertheless shows why that strike was ridiculous. If you actually see the movie, and read up on this particular strike, you will find that the unions were entirely responsible for the loss of their members jobs.
No wonder, unions are falling out of favor.

Americans are a pretty fair bunch on the whole and I also suspect they are pretty appalled to see union thugs attacking protesters with such brutality.
